InterVIEWS-day TUESday: Dana Li

Welcome to InterVIEWS-day TUESday (Say it out loud. It rhymes.)!  Each week, we’ll feature a different Araca Project participant answering questions on all the hard-hitting issues, like which Friends character they most resemble.  This week, we have Araca Project Production Manager/Araca Group Finance Associate/Olympic and Glee Project lover, Dana Li.  Enjoy!

Full name: Dana Li

What is your involvement in Araca Project 2012?
I am the Production Manager of the AP.

What is your favorite thing about your job?
Working with the other lovely ladies in facilitating the Araca Project, and watching the productions and teams evolve as we dive further into the projects.

What was the first show you worked on in any capacity?
In my school’s (mandatory) Fifth Grade Play called “Piggies Galore and More,” I played the Deputy.

What is your biggest show catastrophe, on stage or off?
Confession: I wanted to do an InterVIEWSday TUESday because I wanted to share this gem of a story.

My first show at Syracuse was the fall of my freshman year, and I was the ASM on Cat on a Hot Tin Roof starring Danielle von Gal and Chris Dall’au. During the second week of the run, when Brick and Big Daddy are having their talk/fight in Act 2, Chris fell to the floor, shattered a glass, and cut his finger. He was bleeding all over his white pajamas and was barefoot, so we stopped the show, and had someone clean it up. For the rest of the show, when he was offstage, Chris threw up. A LOT. (Danielle also got sick, in a very lady-like manner.)

What was your favorite college restaurant?
I’m 100% a Phoebe’s gal. If we’re branching out, my favorite Armory Square restaurant is Empire Brewing Co.

What is your earliest memory?
Visiting Disney World when I was two and knocking on the doors in Toontown to see if Mickey was home. He wasn’t.

What is your internet and/or social media obsession?
Currently, Instagram.

If you were a Friends character, who would you be?
Chandler, with a little bit of Monica.

What was your favorite movie in each decade of your life?
1990s – The Lion King, The Sound of Music
2000s – 10 Things I Hate About You/Little Miss Sunshine
2010s – When Harry Met Sally

What is your favorite Olympic event?
I’m obsessed with the Olympics. The ones I’ll really go out of my way to watch are:
Winter – figure skating, speed skating, skiing, snowboarding, curling
Summer – diving/synchronized diving, swimming, gymnastics, Misty May/Kerri Walsh, rowing

Coffee or tea? Tea.

Mad Men or Breaking Bad? Arrested Development.

Mac or PC? Mac.

Manhattan or Brooklyn? Manhattan.

Hiking or biking? Biking… I guess.

And on that SUPER enthusiastic note, we’re out!
